HYDERABAD: Five men allegedly gang-raped a 15-year-old tribal girl after giving her a soft drink mixed with alcohol at a birthday party in Chatrinaka last week. Apart from the five accused - aged between 18 and 21 - a 16-year-old girl and her boyfriend present at the party were also arrested for abetting the offence.
The victim, a school dropout, lives with her mother, a labourer, who had deserted her husband and moved in with another worker from Chatrinaka about five years ago.
On February 4 night, she first went out to get medicines for her mother. Later, when she stepped out again, she was met by the 16-year-old girl from her neighbourhood who persuaded her to come to a friend's place at Bhoiguda for a birthday party, police said.
