All India Kisan Sabha blames 'tampering' with special provisions for Covid in Lakshadweep
NEW DELHI: The AIKS – All India Kisan Sabha – the farmers wing of the CPM s have accused Praful Patel, the new administrator of Lakshadweep of tampering with the special provisions of the ecologically sensitive islands and its people, including flouting of Covid norms that resulted in the deadly virus reaching the island that had zero positive cases till some months ago. The islands that comprise the Union territory “now has thousands of cases, since checking of people for Corona virus, in Kochi and also on landing in Lakshadweep have been done away with," said Vijoo Krishnan, AIKS joint secretary.
“The administrator Praful Patel immediately after assuming office in December 2020, has been taking controversial decisions. He unilaterally changed the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for preventing spread of COVID in the island,” said a statement issued on Tuesday by AIKS leaders Ashok Dhawale and Hannan Mollah. in cases from zero in 2020 to thousands of cases now.
